INDIANAPOLIS — British IndyCar driver and two-time INDY NXT championship runner up Jack Harvey announced Tuesday morning that he has been diagnosed with cancer.
Harvey, 33, publicly announced the diagnosis in a statement on X, calling this stage of life “a new fight” dropped off his doorstep.
“My entire career has been about fighting for what’s next,” Harvey said. “The next opportunity. The next chance to prove myself. The next time I could get back in the car and show what I’m capable of. But through all of it, I’ve never stopped believing that there was something worth fighting for.”
Harvey noted that his plans for 2027 haven’t changed, and he plans to be strapped back into the No. 24 car in May for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in the Indy 500.
He did not indicate the type of cancer or say what future treatments look like, but says he’s been receiving “excellent care” from a team made up of family, friends, INDYCAR allies, and many more.
“I’ve never backed away from a challenge in my life, and this circumstance is no different. So…let’s fight.”
