The Veteran’s Memorial Bridge connecting Mankato and North Mankato is expected to reopen to traffic by late Friday, October 30th, or Saturday, October 31st.

MnDOT and the City of Mankato are tentatively planning a ribbon-cutting ceremony for 2 p.m. Friday.

The bridge closed earlier this year for repairs and ramp improvements. Project manager Todd Kjolstad says the pavement, bridge deck and traffic signals are installed, with pavement markings and a few finishing touches remaining.

Kjolstad credits favorable weather and an efficient contractor for keeping the project moving forward despite logistical challenges.

Some final work will continue into early November, including installation of an ornamental steel railing and a new overhead sign.

The reopening timeline remains dependent on weather conditions.
